The Soccer Association of Montgomery (SAM Soccer) is a 501(c)(3) organization that caters to the soccer needs of players ages 3 – 18 years old. We are currently seeking qualified applicants to coach in many of our programs. Applicants should be at least 18 years old, reliable, energetic, work well with both children and adults, communicate effectively, are responsible, and have previous work experience with children.
All applicants are expected to have an E-license or greater or be working to achieve one within sixth months of employment with SAM. Applicants to be hired will be required to complete a criminal background check.
The following are the programs that SAM coaches are expected to participate in:
2 Kicks (age 2): 2 Kicks is a program designed specifically to introduce 2-year-olds to the game of soccer. This parent-assisted (parents are required to attend the class with the children) class focuses on developing skills such as walking, balance, coordination, and socialization. Additionally, the very basics of soccer – such as kicking and dribbling are introduced.
Pre-Kickers (ages 3 and 4): This developmental soccer program emphasizes the improvement of gross motor skills and development of fundamental soccer techniques while having FUN. Classes are loosely structured with lots of positive reinforcement and activities that change quickly to hold the interest of 3-4-year-old children. Soccer skills will be introduced through a variety of exercises and games in a group setting to encourage personal interaction and social development.
Kickers (Ages 5 and 6): This developmental soccer program follows the Pre-Kicks program by advancing the child’s soccer skills. Kickers concentrate on skills in passing, dribbling, shooting, teamwork and learning the basic rules of the game. Each session concludes with actual games where players can practice their skills. E-license or greater preferred.
Rec Ready (Ages 5-7): Rec Ready is a 6-week clinic (but only need to attend 4 classes) that teaches the SAM Rec rules, gets kids used to the 4 v 4 format that is used in the 6U and 7U age groups, reinforces soccer basics and gives the child the edge going into the fall season. The class is for the active, more advanced 5 to 7 years olds that need an extra boost before transitioning to Rec.
Indoor Clinics (Ages 8 through 12): Field Player and Goalkeeper Winter indoor clinics are designed to further the skills of players in all aspects of the game. Particular attention is paid to player technique and proper usage of applied skills, both offensively and defensively. D License or greater preferred.
SAM Skills Clinic (Ages 8 through 12): This program is designed to aid players and teams in their skills and development. Coaches will be responsible for in-depth technical training for each Boost team, as well as coaching them in a tournament at the end of the season. D License or greater preferred.
